i had a bit of a surreal event in my life today. while most everyone was out watching the first games of the football season, i was in one of my favorite places to work. i go there with my stuff, get a cup of coffee and something to nibble. after sitting there for a half hour or so, a guy sits close to me. he pulls out his computer and starts typing away. i have no idea what he is working on but he is typing furiously. another guy joins him at the table and start a conversation. from the way they were talking, i could tell they are friends.
the new guy asks him what he was typing. the first guy responds with "i am writing in my blog." there was some derogatory comment about blogs that was said next. the first guy defends blogs and he starts talking about some of the blogs out there. i believe they didn't see me sitting there because they got onto sex blogs. he is telling his friend about all the people out there writing and showing their sex life online. i guess this got his friend interested in blogs. they are going through some of the blogs he has book marked. they get to some local blogs after a couple minutes. my ears prick up when they mentioned a blog i know, Dirty Couple in Virginia. (ken and jen, they had nothing but good things to say about your writings. i stopped writing at this point on sunday because i needed sleep.)
the first guy says something about another blog he likes to read. at this point, i dropped my attention until i hear the words miss wolfe. they just got my full undivided attention, i tried to look down at my book while they discussed me. the reader explains to his friend that i go to school here in dc, a little about some of my wilder things, and he followed some of my advice to some success. i thought it was pretty good and i was a little proud of myself. his friend then adds his two cents. the friend says that i am "probably some fat whore that couldn't get a guy to go out with her if i tried". he added some other unflattering things but i don't remember the exact wording. there were some jokes exchanged at my expense. it was at this point i felt the need to let them know i was there, not me as miss wolfe but as me a woman. i gave a little cough and they looked over and noticed me. they both got a little flushed because i overheard them.
me: did you ever think she doesn't post her picture on there because she doesn't want some weird stalker guy? (i get a blank stare)
me: i am sorry for butting in but i couldn't help overhearing your conversation.
guy1: i never really thought about it.
guy2: i still think she's a freak.
me: you shouldn't say things like that because she could be sitting next to you. you don't know i could be her.
guy1 and 2: both laugh (they think i am joking)
me: besides you said that her advice helped you a little so maybe shes doing a little good. maybe she wants to help men please women better. isn't that good for you and your girlfriend?
(again i get blank looks, like i'm crazy)
me: sorry for interrupting, i needed to say something.
i packed up my work and moved to a different spot. i didn't hear anything specific after i left. i don't think they were happy with me interjecting. the second guy didn't like me at all. i do remember hearing the word cunt as i walked away. i deserved it for interjecting but i couldn't really keep my mouth shut. to the guy that reads the blog, i do exist and now you had the distinct experience of the only reader to ever see me and now know who i am. my only advice to anyone that lives, watch what you say because you never know who is listening.

Way to go! Don't let the little shits get to ya!
I don't know if it is a compliment or not, but we were hoping to attract a more "adult" crowd to the blog, but we will take the college boys too.
I bet they're BOTH reading you today, lol.
All three of you are among those whom I consider "the thinking man's sex bloggers."
XO
Bravo!
I'm glad you spoke up.
